It was near the top of the pile of the so-called "Smoosh" mags targeted by NYC Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. Bolles never signed a single cover and no wonder, LaGuardia jailed several staffers associated with the publisher and when he couldn't get his hands on them, threw the newsstand dealers in the slammer.

funny how the word "gay" was so mainstream then in it's implication....(not that there's anything wrong with it)....I wonder when the word meaning changed? Stonewall?
